Venture Capital Workshop

Venture capital investor Sergio Monsalve joined the Learning Design Challenge for a workshop on the business side of EdTech, with particular focus on product-market fit. Sergio, who teaches EDUC 295 in the GSE, is the Founding Partner of Roble Ventures, a future-of-work focused fund investing $200k-$2M in early-stage technologies that enable people, teams, and organizations to achieve their most ambitious work.

After sharing his perspectives on product-market fit, Sergio led student teams through a hands-on exercise to apply its principles to their own projects. He also provided information about his Spring Quarter course, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Education Technology Seminar, which is designed to help students develop the skills and strategies necessary to effectively create and evaluate educational services and education technology startups, much like educators, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and venture capital investors do.
